Of the many things I want Ren to know, traveling is definitely at the top.🤍 My parents blessed me with the gift of travel and I want to gift her the same .
So Far Renny and I have been on two solo trips together: Belize by air and Chicago by road.
In this blog I will give you a couple tips to keep in mind when traveling alone with your little one.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
What baby needs, baby gets.
I know I was talking mess about the large diaper bag in my last blog but don’t be fooled. I carry EVERYTHING I THINK I need when traveling with Ren. While motherhood is essentially a new life for me, I want to keep somethings from my previous life constant. Stress free travel is number one.

You Will Absolutely Need:
Stroller that will be gate checked
Carseat that goes under the plane
Baby Carrier (to replace stroller)
Milk (you can take liquid, dry and frozen through Security Checkpoints)
Awesome Snack Variety (some new styles, some faves)
Magical Bag of Toys (go to Dollar Tree, buy some toys they don’t have and VIOLA)
Comfort materials (several pacifiers, their blanket and snuggle toy)
Potty Insert (for us toddler moms)
Airline travel with babies/toddlers can be seamless if you make sure you allow time for mistakes. No, you won’t be able to wake up 2 hours before a flight and fly down 94 to DTW anymore, but if you plan and leave space for error you should get to the airport with enough time to walk slowly with all your crap.
Speaking of baby crap the easiest way for me to carry it is in a backpack. A backpack allows you to be handsfree and offers lots of compartments for smart packing. Make sure your high priority items are easily accessible (for example a paci at the bottom of the bag is no good to you or the rest of the plane or car for that matter ).

The next important thing for traveling with children is to keep the routine somewhat similar. Somewhere within the first 5 months of her life I knew that unnecessary crying caused me unnecessary stress which will unnecessarily bleep bleep up.

That being said I learned to structure her day around my life. Picking flights just before nap time, setting up city tours before or after nap windows can dramatically affect your trip. No one, AND I MEAN NOT EVEN ME, wants to hear that crying mess. So plan plan plan accordingly, it’ll honestly make the difference between smooth sailing and straight chaos.

Lastly kind people can make traveling with toddlers so much easier. From the very first gate attendant that greeted me to the people sitting next to me on each leg of the trip, people were very helpful. I say that to say don’t worry about lifting heavy baby gear, most times there’s someone ready to help. (Now this trip was pre Covid).

For example on our latest trip to Belize the couple ahead of us (in first class Chile) actually let the baby, who was over sitting still, play at their seats (you know with the tv) and ordered her charcuterie (oh, that’s where that started).
Now this was Pre-Rona times so I don’t recommend all the touching, HOWEVER just wanted to share there are good people everywhere.
Mommy and Me travel is intimidating but can be a wonderful opportunity for mommy and me bonding❤️
I’ll leave you with some photos of my favorite girl on vacation, you know because it’s Lime!
Happy Parenting,
